As millions of Americans hunker down for a massive winter storm sweeping the country, new maps are offering updated forecasts of snow and ice accumulations.

As people travel for the holiday weekend, much of Northern California is under a winter storm watch, with communities bracing for several feet of snow.

More than two feet of snow is forecast for Colorado’s highest peaks by Thursday morning, triggering winter storm warnings and avalanche watches, according to the National Weather Service.

A coastal flood advisory was issued by the weather service on Saturday and remains in effect through Tuesday, as up to 1 foot of inundation is possible above ground level along the San Francisco Bay shoreline.
